When a man experiencing hallucinations and armed with several knives broke into a Lubbock home on Friday night, the homeowner used his legally owned firearm to put an end to the intrusion.

According to local media reports, the man, whom authorities believe was not in his right mind, broke into the house, only to find himself facing a better-armed resident. The homeowner shot the knife-wielding suspect one time, wounding him and ending the attack.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
