President Joe Biden’s (D) 2022 State of the Union address touched on a lot of subjects, both domestic and international, and once again included his anti-Second Amendment agenda.

“I ask Congress to pass proven measures to reduce gun violence. Pass universal background checks. Why should anyone on the terrorist list be able to purchase a weapon? Why? Why? And folks, ban assault weapons with high-capacity magazines that hold up to a hundred rounds. You think the deer are wearing Kevlar vests? Look, repeal the liability shield that makes gun manufacturers the only industry in America that can’t be sued. The only one,” said Biden.

None of these positions are new, and if Biden were to get his way, none of them would be good for American freedom, despite the fact that Biden falsely claimed, “these laws don’t infringe on the Second Amendment.”

If it sounds like you’ve heard this speech before—including the weird Kevlar joke—that’s because you more or less have; in fact, we’ve dissected and debunked this oft-repeated litany of lies here at America’s 1st Freedom multiple times.

As for Biden’s strange joke about deer in Kevlar vests that he insists on repeating, we know the Second Amendment isn’t about hunting. The Second Amendment stays relevant partially in part due to our hunting heritage, but Biden is once again attempting to dishonestly distort the Second Amendment at its core.

Perhaps most troubling is the mainstream media’s insistence on not calling him out on these repeated lies. Americans, however, have thankfully been increasingly embracing their freedoms since the start of Biden’s presidency.

With more than five million new gun owners in 2021, and over eight million the year prior, it’s clear that Americans are voting with their wallets, perhaps because of Biden’s desire to implement the most-stringent gun-control measures possible—laws that would only punish law-abiding gun owners. It’s no wonder that law-abiding Americans simply want current laws enforced, not the stricter gun-control that Biden proposes.

Biden’s lies will undoubtedly continue. To stop his gun-control notions from becoming policy, Americans need to vote for their freedom and to stay involved; NRA-ILA Grassroots has many ways you can get involved, and you can also buy NRA memberships for friends and family. Defending freedom starts with you.
