California Homeowner Shoots Intruder

posted on February 16, 2016

A little after 5 a.m. Sunday morning, a husband and wife were at their Ontario, Calif., home when they heard someone trying to force open their front door. The husband got his gun and went to check it out—a short struggle ensued and the homeowner fatally shot the suspected burglar. The wife then called the Ontario Police Department to report the incident.

Law enforcement responding to the scene found a 26-year-old Los Angeles man in the entryway of the home. His identity has not yet been released.

Police said the shooting appeared to be an act of self-defense, so no charges have been brought against the homeowner. However, the investigation is ongoing.
