Carjacking Thwarted By Armed Would-Be Victim

posted on August 11, 2016

A carjacking in a Memphis, Tenn., neighborhood was thwarted when the would-be victim pulled a pistol on the suspect. The woman was gathering belongings in her car when the suspect came up to her and, with one hand in his pocket insinuating a firearm was there, angrily demanded that she get out of her car. To his surprise, he was met with her gun instead of her compliance, and promptly fled.

The victim later identified the attempted carjacker in a lineup, and Marico Ford, 31, was arrested. He’s now in jail with a $75,000 bond. Records show he lives just a few blocks from the victim—and another neighbor, Ricky Hammett, told reporters he supported the victim’s actions and that his pistol would definitely come out if he was confronted by a carjacker.
