When an armed thief tried to rob three people sitting in a Plantation, Fla., park on Tuesday night, he got a little more than he bargained for.

According to local media reports, three residents were sitting in the park when they were approached by two men who tried to rob them at gunpoint. Instead of handing over valuables, one of the residents—who has a concealed-carry permit and was armed—shot the would-be robber, sending the other running for his life.

Police said the suspect who was shot died near the scene. The search continues for the other suspect.
