The men who used guns released under the Obama administration’s Operation Fast and Furious gun-walking scheme to kill an American customs officer have had their day in court and have been found guilty.

Guns.com reports that Jose Emanuel Garcia Sot and Jesus Ivan Quesada Piña were convicted of the 2011 ambush of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents Jaime Zapata and Victor Avila. Both killers, members of the Los Zetas cartel who were extradited from Mexico last year, face mandatory life sentences for the attack, which claimed Zapata’s life while Avila survived.

“Today’s conviction of two cartel members in the horrific murder of ICE agent Jaime Zapata in Mexico is the next step in the Department of Justice’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the cartels and bring them to justice,” announced Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Now if only the people responsible for putting those firearms in the hands of the cartels would be held accountable.
