The head of Chicago’s police union is planning to meet this week with members of President Donald Trump’s administration. The topic at hand: the city’s deadly violence.

Fraternal Order of Police President Dean Angelo is hoping to have a chance to speak with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, if not Trump himself. President Trump has made several promises to step in as needed to help reduce Chicago’s crime.

Angelo would like to see law enforcement officers get back to doing what they do best. “You need to allow police officers to be police officers,” the union leader told CBS Chicago. “If you lose your corner, you lose your block. If you lose your block, you lose your community.”

If he were to ultimately have a chance to visit with Trump, Angela would welcome his assistance. “I would invite him on a ride-along and tell him that we need his help,” Angelo was cited as saying in the Chicago Tribune. “We can’t fix this by ourselves.”
