Police in Arab, Ala., report that a repeat criminal is facing charges—and a limp—after being shot in the foot while trying to rob a home.

Assistant Chief Shane Washburn told WHNT News 19, “The victim advised us that he received a call that someone was breaking into his residence. When he arrived … he found two male subjects there. One of the subjects had some of his property in his hands. The victim advised him to put the property down and he did.”

The homeowner looked inside the thieves’ vehicle, finding more of his property, and then told the robbers he was calling the police. Washburn adds, “During that time there was a brief altercation. The property owner discharged a firearm, and one of the suspects was shot in the foot.” The police arrested the injured criminal a short time later, while the second criminal turned himself into police custody.
