Even The L.A. Times Hits Back Against Watch-List Gun Ban

posted on December 9, 2015

We previously noted a growing faction within the political left that is speaking out against the Obama administration’s desire to prohibit individuals on an FBI watch list from buying guns. Now the editorial board of the Los Angeles Times has issued a statement condemning the policy for its abandonment of due process. “Ending gun violence is critically important, but so is protecting basic civil liberties,” the board wrote.

In case you weren’t sure, the L.A. Times is not known for being a pro-Second Amendment paper, and even in this editorial the writers seemed eager to defend their anti-gun credentials with talk about banning certain types of firearms and enacting more gun-control legislation. But in the end, President Obama’s assault on a constitutionally protected right was too much for them. “Although we agree to the ends here,” they concluded, “we object to the means.”
