Six Democrat women in Georgia’s State House of Representatives unveiled a bill on Monday that would lead to the ban and confiscation of most common modern sporting rifles. HB 731, which is sponsored by Mary Margaret Oliver, Carolyn Hugley, Pat Gardiner, Stacey Abrams, Dar’shun Kendrick and Dee Dawkins-Haigler, would prohibit the possession, sale and use of so-called “assault weapons,” supposedly “large-capacity” magazines, armor-piercing bullets and incendiary .50-caliber bullets.

So not only do they not want you to be able to buy a semi-automatic rifle, they want to come take what you already own. The bill stipulates the designation of “certain weaponry and ammunition as contraband and to require seizure of such by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”

So much for the “no one is trying to take your guns away” rhetoric. Local association Georgia Carry responded via Twitter: “Dems finally honest about gun control, their ultimate goal is confiscation.”

That end came on January 1.
