Shannon Watts, Michael Bloomberg’s mouthpiece for his “Moms Demand” gun-ban lobby, used a criminal shootout among illegal gamblers to try—desperately and dishonestly—to blame the criminal misuse of firearms on laws that protect people against the criminal misuse of firearms.

Around 3 a.m. Monday, at the Hill Haven Event Center in Greenville, Ga., an illegal gambling operation turned violent with “at least several suspects pulling handguns and firing multiple indiscriminate shots within the building,” Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Five women and five men were shot in the melee.

On cue, Shannon Watts tweeted, “The #NRA still fighting for state laws to allow guns in bars: #Georgia bar shoot-out.” But here’s a clue, Shannon: Blaming NRA in this case makes about as much sense as blaming MADD for drunken driving. It’s absurd, and everyone who has a brain cell or an ounce of honesty knows it.
