In the weeks and months preceding the election, gun sales soared due to the possibility that Hillary Clinton could claim the presidency. Thankfully, gun owners and Donald Trump supporters turned out in full force at the polls.

Gun owners also turned out in full force on Black Friday, this time at their local gun shops. But instead of defending their freedom from Clinton, they were celebrating their freedom under Trump. At LI Outdoorsman in Long Island, N.Y., manager Ryan Reyes said while sales pre-election were driven by politics, Black Friday sales were driven by discounts—up to 50 percent off some items. And before the day was over, the store had already sold 15 guns—a three-fold jump over most days.

Despite predictions from the media that gun sales would nosedive, Black Friday deals at many gun retailers drew crowds that rivaled those seeking similar deep discounts on items such as TVs. Shoppers reported lines wrapping around the building at Shooters Gun Store in Jacksonville, Fla., and in Randolph, N.J.’s RSTP gun store and range, hundreds of shoppers took advantage of holiday discounts.
