Halloween Night Robbery Thwarted By Two Armed Employees

posted on November 3, 2015

One customer was shopping and two employees were on duty when a trio of masked men burst into Latino’s Meat Market in Reading, Pa., just before 11 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses say one robber fired a shot with his pistol, while another pulled a stun gun on one of the employees. As the third suspect was removing money from the register, two employees drew their own guns and opened fire on the men, striking two of them. According to police one man died at the scene, while the other was pronounced dead a short time later at a local hospital. The third man, who fled with an undisclosed amount of money from the store’s register, remains at large.

Aside from a minor cut on one worker’s nose, the employees and the customer were unharmed. District Attorney John Adams told police that while the investigation continues, the shootings are being treated as justified self-defense.
