MSNBC host Joe Scarborough may have been overly influenced by the position inside a den of anti-gun vipers. In the wake of the tragic incident in Newtown, Conn., he gently set down his support for Second Amendment rights and began to lean toward the gun-control set. So it was surprising when, during a recent interview with former New York Gov. George Pataki, he criticized the anti-gun lobby in no uncertain terms.

Scarborough insisted that, “… if you’re an advocate for gun control like a lot of people in New York state are, chances are good you’re only making sure that criminals have them.” We don’t know if this signifies a real change of heart on Scarborough’s part, but it’s refreshing to hear one voice of reason, however weak, making itself heard on MSNBC.
