A Delaware judge has ruled that Cabela’s is not responsible for the death of a woman killed with a firearm that the retail giant had sold legally, but was later traded to the woman’s slayer.

New Castle County Superior Court Judge Vivian L. Medinilla ruled against the Brady Campaign, which brought the lawsuit for the family of slain 19-year-old Keshall Anderson.

“Cabela’s performed a NICS background check, received a ‘proceed’ response, and otherwise complied with the relevant statutory provisions,” Medinilla wrote in her decision.
