Maryland Governor Signs Pro-Gun Bill Into Law

posted on May 24, 2016

Maryland’s Republican Gov. Larry Hogan on Thursday signed pro-gun legislation into law in a state where victories for gun rights are sometimes few and far between.

The legislation—House Bill 312, sponsored by Republicans Sid Saab in the House of Delegates and Michael Hough in the Senate under Senate Bill 208—repeals the redundant requirement that applicants for renewals of wear and carry permits submit their fingerprints again.

The much-needed reform reduces the cost and inconvenience of renewing permits in the state of Maryland. And Gov. Hogan, the lawmakers who supported this reform and the activists who helped push it through to the governor’s desk, all deserve the thanks of every Maryland gun owner.
