While this election cycle has so far seen several prominent calls for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to run for president, it didn’t appear that he was strongly considering it: Up to this point, the stridently anti-gun billionaire has preferred to let his money do his talking for him. But a series of new reports indicates that Bloomberg has changed his mind and is mulling a presidential run as an Independent candidate.

The Democratic candidates have squabbled over who can claim the most extreme anti-gun credentials, but now whoever emerges with that party’s nomination might be confronted with arguably the single greatest enemy of the Second Amendment active today. Predictions that Bloomberg might take the field against our rights only underscore how important it is that all gun owners and lovers of freedom stand up for our right to keep and bear arms.
