In a heated discussion on radical Islamic terrorism with presidential candidate Rick Santorum, “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski drew a parallel with white male gun owners.

Brzezinski condescendingly interrupted Santorum when he suggested the Muslim community should be doing more to combat jihadists: “Come on, Rick Santorum, you know better, you’re a smart guy … Why aren’t you working on white men with guns?”

In the stunned silence that followed, Brzezinski pressed on: “You look at the data on white men with guns wreaking havoc in this country, why aren’t white men all coming forward? Why don’t you call on them to do that?”

Brzezinski didn’t cite any sources to back her claim that white men are “wreaking havoc.” The latest FBI statistics showed gun homicides continued their 20-year decline in 2014. But in Brzezinski’s world, the terror threat level would rise based on skyrocketing gun sales, instead of actual threat assessments by security professionals.
