You won’t see this in the so-called “mainstream” media, but the Nassau Bay (Texas) Police Department is receiving a generous donation to arm its entire force with uniform handguns, courtesy of a longtime champion of law enforcement—the National Rifle Association.

Police Chief Kenneth Campbell says The NRA Foundation grant could be a lifesaver. “The uniformity in firearms will ensure that all officers are carrying the same type and caliber handgun and ammunition, (which) could prove lifesaving during a gun battle due to officers’ pistol magazines being interchangeable,” Campbell said. Before the officers applied for The NRA Foundation grant, all 12 officers were responsible for securing their own guns—which did nothing to ensure weapon uniformity.

Nassau Bay Mayor Mark Denman says it’s more crucial than ever for officers to be prepared. “Should a situation occur … where one officer had to use another officer’s weapon, there's no learning curve to tackle when split seconds count in saving lives,” he said. “It means a better prepared, better organized police force.”
