In a newly released draft party platform that a top adviser to Hillary Clinton said “all Democrats can and should be proud of,” the Democrat Party put law-abiding gun owners squarely in its crosshairs.

Included in the draft platform is support for so-called “universal” background checks (which even the government admits must have full firearm registration to be effective), repealing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), banning semi-automatic rifles that gun-banners like to call “assault weapons,” and banning gun sales to people on secret government lists with no due process of law.

The new party platform is so anti-gun that gun-ban advocates are praising it. “This move is a historic victory for the gun violence prevention movement,” Po Murray, chairman of the Newtown Action Alliance, said in an email to Guns.com.

Obviously, it’s also a historic slap in the face to America’s law-abiding gun owners, who find a major political party actively advocating taking away their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
