Tennessee’s new legislative office complex will allow for carry of concealed firearms for self-defense by Right-to-Carry permit holders.

According to an Associated Press report, House Speaker Beth Harwell and Senate Speaker Randy McNally, announced the new policy in a joint release. Under the policy, those who wish to keep their guns on them inside the building will be required to present their permits at security checkpoints.

“Once that validity is established, a permit holder will be allowed exercise their Second Amendment [rights] while visiting their state government,” the speakers said.

According to the report, lawmakers and staff began moving into the renovated Cordell Hull office building near the state capitol building this week.
