North Carolina Man Carrying Concealed Weapon Stops Armed Robbers

posted on June 13, 2017

Demarcus Delaneo Styles and an accomplice approached Michael Lee Sturdivant on a quiet Winston-Salem, N.C., neighborhood street Monday afternoon, and pulled a gun to rob him. But Styles had no idea that his chosen victim also happened to be armed.

Police tell WFMY News 2 that when officers responded to a reported shooting, they found Styles dead at the scene. The investigation revealed there was an exchange of gunfire between Styles and Sturdivant, while the accomplice ran from the skirmish. Sturdivant was found a short time later at a nearby home, and was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still searching for the other would-be robber.
