Odessa Homeowner Thwarts Burglary Attempt

posted on December 10, 2015

An Odessa, Texas, resident is the latest example of a homeowner using a firearm for self-defense. It happened in the early morning hours, just after 2 a.m., when a would-be robber tried to force his way into Hector Garcia’s house by kicking in the front door.

Garcia, 35, shot at the suspect multiple times until he fled and drove away in a truck. The suspect had also vandalized Garcia’s vehicle by breaking a window and denting the sides.

Odessa police later located the suspect at Medical Center Hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the lower body. Warrants will be served upon his release.
