Phoenix Woman Drives Away Home Invader With Her Firearm

posted on January 13, 2017

When a woman woke to the sound of breaking glass at 2 a.m., she had two immediate thoughts—to protect her child and to grab her gun.

Police told ABC15 Arizona that the woman discovered a man trying to break into her home through a rear window, so she fired her gun at him. Investigators said it did not appear the suspect was hit by the gunfire, but he quickly retreated from the scene—leaving behind a shaken, but unharmed, mother and child.

It was not immediately known if the invader fled the South Phoenix neighborhood on foot or in a car, but an investigation is ongoing.
