Since the recent introduction of his “Second Amendment Guarantee Act,” U.S. Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., has made it a point to explain the legislation at every opportunity.
The measure, which would limit a state's authority to regulate the design, manufacture, sale or possession of a rifle or shotgun, would make gun bans currently in effect in some states—including New York’s so-called SAFE Act—illegal.
“If our governor (Gov. Andrew Cuomo) had his way, there would be no guns in the state of New York. Well, the Second Amendment says otherwise,” Collins told those gathered at the Rochester Brooks Gun Club, according to a report at Newsmax.com. “I have a lot of confidence we'll get this over the finish line, and I know it's going to drive the governor absolutely crazy because we're calling him out for another unconstitutional move.”Most Popular
