Anti-gun city officials in Savannah, Ga., are seeking permission from the state to destroy seized guns, rather than sell them to law-abiding citizens, according to a report on Foxnews.com.

Apparently, City Councilman John Hall, who is pushing for the destruction, doesn’t understand the difference between law-abiding gun owners and violent criminals. “I favor destroying those weapons. I don’t want them sold to pawn shops or gun dealers,” Hall told Fox News.

Of course, the city doesn’t just sell the guns to anyone on the streets looking for one, as Hall would have you believe. As Jerry Henry, executive director of GeorgiaCarry.org, told FoxNews.com, “The holy grail of gun prohibitionists, the background check, will be employed when a person purchases one of these firearms. There is absolutely no reason to destroy a perfectly good legal item just because the item was stolen and is now in the hands of law enforcement.”
