A homeowner in Davidson County, N.C., who had stayed home from work due to illness, was awakened just after noon on Tuesday. According to Davidson County Sherriff David Grice, when the homeowner found three men—Cornelius Hardy, 24; Tavarus Rhynes, 22; and Maurice Williams, 27—in his home, he retrieved his firearm and shot at the men. He missed, but he did manage to get them out of his house. He chased them out onto the lawn and confronted them, but all three fled on foot into the woods near the house.

Police caught up with Hardy and Rhynes on U.S. Hwy. 52, and Williams was later found walking down an area road. All three were taken to Davidson County Jail and charged with felony breaking and entering in addition to other charges related to the incident. Davidson County law enforcement officials now suspect the three are also connected with several other robberies and home invasions in the area.
