With their big bucks failing to secure Hillary Clinton’s expected big victory, some of America’s rich elites are back to the drawing board and are strategizing next steps. George Soros was one such billionaire in attendance as a three-day meeting sponsored by the Democracy Alliance donor club began on Sunday.
With a theme of “Seizing Opportunity & Building Power,” the conference agenda features seminars such as “The 2016 Election: What Happened and Why?” and “Toward Becoming a Progressive, Not Just Blue State.” Another, focused on Donald Trump’s first 100 days, calls it a “terrifying assault on President Obama’s achievements.”
It’s clear that the Democrats are still just grasping at straws. “The [Democratic Alliance] itself should be called into question,” said one Democratic strategist. “You can make a very good case it’s nothing more than a social club for a handful of wealthy white donors and labor union officials to drink wine and read memos, as the Democratic Party burns down around them.”
