A Springfield, Tenn., man was sound asleep at around 2 a.m. Saturday morning when three armed men suddenly burst through the door. Fortunately for the homeowner, he keeps a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol at the ready.

Springfield police told WKRN-TV that the three men stormed the residence with guns drawn and began demanding money. The owner had time to pull out his gun and fire a single round, which sent all three suspects dashing for the door. While in retreat, one of the suspects returned fire at the homeowner, striking him in the hand. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Investigators describe the suspects as three black men between 18 and 20 years of age, all wearing bandannas. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Springfield police department at (615) 384-8422.
