The Armed Citizen

On June 6, a 37-year-old man wearing a mask and armed with a gun entered a restaurant in Richmond, Va., and attempted to rob it. A restaurant employee, however, shot the suspect dead. The president of a community club adjacent to the restaurant told reporters, “I’m sorry that somebody lost their life and it had to be that way, but you also got to protect yourself,” and expressed concern about a lack of police presence. The police chief responded that he’d love to have more of a presence in the area, but staffing was down by 22%. “Let’s put the word out; we’re hiring.” he said. (wtvr.com, Richmond, Va., 6/6/25)

On the night of June 10th, a 36-year-old man in Chicago was retrieving items from his vehicle when another man approached and demanded his belongings at gunpoint. The victim, who had a concealed carry license, drew his own gun and fired on the would-be robber, striking him multiple times and ultimately killing him. (fox32chicago.com, Chicago, Ill., 6/11/25)
