The Armed Citizen

In Indianapolis on May 24, two women and two girls were at a hotel room with a 39-year-old man. The women and one girl left the room to take some of their things to their vehicle, but a 12-year old girl stayed behind because she wasn’t feeling well. When the others returned, they reportedly found the man, armed with a gun, holding the girl down on the bed. The girl was saying “no” repeatedly and her clothes were ripped. The mother drew her own firearm and shot the man multiple times, and then the family fled. They called to report the incident once safely away, and the alleged assailant was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The man was previously convicted of child molestation and now faces charges of attempted rape, attempted child molestation, confinement and unlawful possession of a firearm. The suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment and no charges were expected to be brought against the armed citizen. (wkrg.com, Mobile, Ala., 6/3/25)
