The Armed Citizen

A 32-year-old man reportedly attacked an older woman in her home in Winnebago County, Ill., pushing, slapping and punching her, on the morning of Nov. 25, 2024. Another man in the home called 911, retrieved his firearm and shot the alleged assailant to stop the attack. The suspect was treated for his wounds and charged with aggravated battery of a woman over the age of 60 and battery causing bodily harm. (mystateline.com, Rockford, Ill., 11/26/24)

On the afternoon of Nov. 29, 2024, a man allegedly started smashing windows on a home in Sacramento, Calif. The homeowner ordered him to stop several times, but the man continued his invasion, causing the homeowner to shoot him in the hand. The suspect withdrew from that home and entered a nearby empty home, found keys there to a vehicle in the garage, and drove that vehicle through the garage door. Law-enforcement officials chased the suspect for an hour before they forced him to stop. The 40-year-old suspect faces charges of burglary, auto theft, vandalism and evading police.
