Passengers were picked up by a limousine driver and driven to a nightclub. Afterward, the party was taken to a convenience store. Two vehicles followed the limousine from the convenience store and pulled up on either side of the limo forcing the chauffeur to stop. There was an attempted robbery during which bullets riddled the limousine. Two passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The chauffeur, who has a concealed carry permit, returned fire, fending off the attackers. (Limousine, Charter & Tour magazine, St. Petersburg, FL, 4/2/13)

A Texas father fought back against three home intruders after they broke into his Houston apartment, demanded money and showed a gun. The husband and father, Javier Ortiz, pulled out his own firearm and fatally wounded two of the suspects. The third ran for his life. Ortiz's wife said the three men broke in and demanded, "the money, the money." Police are still searching for the third suspect. (TheBlaze.com, Houston, TX, 7/1/13)

January 1980: A man broke into the Richmond, Va., home of Brodus Cheatham, crept into the bedroom and demanded cash. Even though Cheatham complied with the demand, the thief punched him in the face. At that, Cheatham grabbed a .38 cal. revolver from under the bed and fired, seriously wounding his attacker, who fled but was later arrested by police. (The News-Leader, Richmond, Va.)
