The Armed Citizen

A 42-year-old man broke into a home in Summerville, S.C., at about 1:30 a.m. on May 8 and was fatally shot. The investigation was open with no charges pending at the time of reporting. (abcnews4.com, Mount Pleasant, S.C., 5/7/25)

In Chattanooga, Tenn., a 30-year-old man met up with another man to purchase two items on the evening of May 8. During the purchase, the seller allegedly put a firearm to the buyer’s face and made demands. The buyer exited his vehicle and another man who was with the seller reportedly got into the driver’s seat. However, the robbery victim, still under threat, drew his own gun and exchanged fire with the robbers, striking the one who’d gotten into the vehicle. That suspect was arrested, transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and charged with carjacking and attempted murder. Reports are unclear on whether the man posing as a seller was detained. (wdef.com, Chattanooga, Tenn., 5/9/25)
