Long before “Dog the Bounty Hunter” hit the airwaves, there was another famous TV show that also featured a bounty hunter. It began in the late 1950s as a spinoff of “Trackdown,” a western series starring Robert Culp. While the show only lasted for three years, it ran long enough to launch the career of this superstar. He was one of the first actors to successfully transition from television to film and, by 1974, he had become the highest-paid movie star in the world.

The lever-action firearm shown here was his character’s sidearm of choice in the TV show that made him famous. Whether chasing down the bad guys or riding astride his horse, Dingo, he could draw and fire this gun with blazing speed.

What was the name of the popular TV show that made a household name of its star? Who is the actor who became known as “The King of Cool”? And what was this unusual firearm? Click here to learn the answers and read more about this unique gun. It’s just one of the many great treasures found at the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Va.
