How’s this for irony: While the Obama administration is stepping up efforts to take away your guns, the same administration is now set to release a sea of violent criminals back onto the streets.

The mass release was triggered by the U.S. Sentencing Commission, which lowered maximum sentences for drug offenders last year. That means the Federal Bureau of Prisons will now be releasing some 6,000 inmates from prison later this month. As many as 40,000 more could be eligible for reduced sentences in coming years. Yet these aren’t just small-town drug dealers. Many have a rap sheet that goes well beyond drug charges and includes gun offenses and violent crimes.

So in essence, our President wants to make it harder for you to protect yourself while adding to the threats against you. At some point, you have to ask yourself which side he’s really on.
