We told you a few weeks ago why President Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of the interior, Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., is an excellent choice to head the agency. Now gun owners have their opportunity to play an important part in making sure Zinke is confirmed.

A former Navy SEAL, Zinke is also a hunter and angler who understands the important role hunting and shooting sports play in the stewardship of the nation’s public lands. In fact, during a confirmation hearing last month, Zinke said: “It was on these lands that my father [taught me] to hunt and fish, and the Boy Scouts taught me the principles [of] environmental stewardship and the importance of public access.”

During his time in Congress, Zinke has also been a strong supporter of legislation that would greatly enhance hunting and shooting opportunities on America’s public lands.

Hunters and shooters throughout the country are encouraged to contact their U.S. senators and ask them to support Ryan Zinke for secretary of the interior. Contact them directly by clicking here.

When President Donald Trump (R) signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) into law on July 4, 2025, he scheduled the end of the burdensome $200 excise tax imposed on suppressors, short-barreled firearms and “any other weapons” as defined by the National Firearms Act (NFA).
