The U.S. Air Force has reminded commanders that they may authorize airmen to carry weapons for self-defense. The announcement was spurred by last year’s deadly attack on a recruiting station in Chattanooga, Tenn.

In an article on Military.com, Maj. Keith Quick, the Air Force Security Forces Integrated Defense action officer, said that while this has always been USAF policy, “We are now formalizing it and telling them how they can use these types of programs more effectively.”

Ladd Everitt of the Campaign to Stop Gun Violence responded to FoxNews.com: “Don’t hold your breath waiting for them (USAF) to embrace America’s degenerate gun culture. They won’t, and thank God given the potential implications for national defense … the men and women leading our military understand their mission and the risks that come with barracks and mess halls full of guns.”

Yes, the Air Force understands the risks, Mr. Everitt—and has taken the appropriate action.
