In the latest video from the NRA’s “Freedom’s Safest Place” campaign, country and bluegrass legend Charlie Daniels has a firm message for those who look for signs of American weakness.

“To the ayatollahs of Iran and every terrorist you enable: Listen up.”

Daniels says that despite the absence of firm leadership from the nation’s executive branch, the real strength of America lies with its ordinary, hard-working citizens. These are the proud and ready men and women who will never be defeated.

“You haven’t met the heartland, or the people who will defend this nation with their bloody, calloused, bare hands, if that’s what it takes.”

The real America, says Daniels, consists of millions who have the nerve and the steel to stand up to terrorism. Our enemies may disrespect our leaders, but they should fear our people.

“No, you’ve never met America. And you oughta pray you never do.”
