To hear the Parkland, Fla., bunch talk about it, everyone under the age of 18 is against the freedom of gun ownership. Guess what, David Hogg? We think you’re wrong, and we’ve got some statistics to prove it because the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation has reported that a record number of participants for the upcoming Scholastic Action Shooting Program National Championships in Ohio.

More than 1,200 teens had signed up as of last week. “This officially makes the 2018 SASP National Championships the largest Youth Action Shooting event in the world and the largest Steel Match in history,” Rick Leach, SASP’s National Director, said in a news release.

So, when Hogg and his cohorts get their air time and spout off nonsense about how all teens hate guns and they all want gun control, apparently they’re limiting their circle of survey respondents. The rise in popularity of the shooting sports among young people shows that Hogg isn’t giving people the full story. Not that we’d expect fairness and truth from someone with a transparent agenda.

The event will run concurrently with the SSSF’s Scholastic Clay Target Program July 14-21 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio.

The dual championships will also include a new offering this year, the Top Gun Challenge, where the overall winner will get a CZ-USA prize package that will include a shotgun, a rifle and a pistol.

The NRA took a serious hit on December 28th. We lost Phil Schreier, director of NRA Museums. He did everything the doctors asked of him and then some. But it wasn’t enough. Leukemia won, and we all lost.

No More Tax on Suppressors!

When President Donald Trump (R) signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) into law on July 4, 2025, he scheduled the end of the burdensome $200 excise tax imposed on suppressors, short-barreled firearms and “any other weapons” as defined by the National Firearms Act (NFA). That end came on January 1.

In his inauguration speech as the new mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani said, behind his characteristically easy smile, “We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”
