Julianne Moore: Gun Safety Expert, Constitutional Scholar

Actress Julianne Moore told People magazine that she was partnering with Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety to create the Everytown Creative Council—celebrities joined together to “amplify the movement to end gun violence in our country.”

Moore mentioned background checks and safe storage laws, but Everytown doesn’t stop there. The website states, “While these are just the first steps, we pledge to use our voices wherever and whenever we can,” and “… every action, no matter how small, helps bring us closer to a future free from gun violence.”

Of course, “ending gun violence” is the code phrase adopted when “enacting gun control” fell out of favor. Unwittingly or not, by signing on, these celebrities are endorsing Bloomberg’s entire gun control agenda.

Yet, “[a]s actors, we are citizens first, so we believe in the Constitution and the Second Amendment,” Moore said. “I think the Founding Fathers would agree with me.”
