Clear Channel’s Vision Blurry After Gun Owners Fight Back

On March 31, ad giant Clear Channel Outdoor proudly announced the donation of 25 Boston billboards to the group Stop Handgun Violence. Three days later, those billboards were gone

Clear Channel reversed course due to reaction from gun owners, much of it organized by NRA affiliate Gun Owners Action League (GOAL). “This campaign has become politicized and misconstrued as a political position by our company, so we have taken it down,” said Clear Channel spokesman David Grabert. As if gun-control messages aren’t already “political.”

The billboards featured an AR-15 with a white flag of surrender and the headline, “We’re not anti-gun. We’re pro-life. Massachusetts Gun Laws Save Lives.”
