Anti-Gun Detroit Democrat Shoots Girlfriend’s Car

In the anti-gun tradition of “Don’t do what I do, do what I say,” Democrat Michigan State Sen. Virgil Smith, whose anti-gun stance has earned him a grade of “D” from the NRA-PVF, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a gun and malicious destruction of property after he reportedly fired multiple shots from a shotgun into a car owned by his former wife and current girlfriend early Sunday morning.

Sources say that after his ex-wife found him naked in the home with another woman, a domestic dispute ensued in which Smith fired as many as 10 shots into the white 2015 Mercedes-Benz owned by his ex-wife, a prominent Ann Arbor businesswoman.

Michigan lawmakers are reportedly watching the fallout carefully to decide upon appropriate punishment for Smith, who serves as chair of the body’s legislative black caucus.
