The Fox News series “The Five” ran a segment on Wednesday about Lynne Russell, the former CNN anchor whose husband killed a robber in a motel shootout. Russell has been vocal about ascribing her survival to the Second Amendment.
Unfortunately, commentator Juan Williams has a penchant for making risible statements about guns, and this time he did not disappoint. When asked whether Russell’s case made him more sympathetic to gun owners, Williams glibly responded that, “Most of the time people with guns are shooting each other.” He then attempted to invoke the slaying of Kathryn Steinle—as if a murder committed with a gun stolen from a federal agent has any bearing on gun policy.
Williams has established himself as a clownish supporter of gun control, and it is to be hoped that no one takes his views seriously—although we will acknowledge that he can be good for a laugh.
