Guns Up, Suicides Down

posted on September 22, 2015

While suicides are unspeakable tragedies to victims, families, friends, acquaintances and society in general, a recent Breitbart report explains why blaming America’s high suicide rate on what gun-banners call “easy access to firearms” just doesn’t compute.

According to NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention covering the years 1981 through 2013 show that “the firearm suicide rate (the number of suicides per 100,000 population) decreased 5 percent” over the very same period that U.S. citizens purchased nearly 200 million firearms.

As Breitbart reports, this fact is very important since firearm-related suicide is actually the category that drives gun violence numbers used by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the various gun-control groups funded by billionaire gun-banner Michael Bloomberg.
