Georgia Clerk Stops Robbery With Firearm

A convenience store clerk in Athens, Ga., was confronted by the sight of a masked man entering the establishment. “When he came in, I said to him, ‘That’s not a good look to be walking into a store,’” clerk Waymon Fields told the Athens Banner-Herald. “That’s when he throwed the note up on the counter, then put his hands down in the front of his pants, making like he had a gun. I always have a pistol at work, so I took it out of my pocket and shoved it in his face.”

The suspect reportedly picked his note back up and fled the store after a brief struggle with Fields. Two customers attempted to tail the suspect but eventually lost sight of him. Fields says that he held off shooting because he was unsure whether the suspect was actually armed. “If I saw a weapon I would’ve shot him,” he stated.
