Woman Shoots Assailant Who Followed Her Home

posted on January 7, 2016

In Manchester, N.H., a petite 65-year-old woman became frightened when she noticed that the same car had been driving behind her since she left a gas station. When the vehicle followed her into her apartment complex, she parked as close as possible to her door and hurried inside. But the driver pulled up next to her, ran past her and blocked her path; he then allegedly grabbed at her, causing her to draw her handgun and fire a single shot at him before running inside and calling police.

The suspect was helped back to his car by a female companion and driven to a local hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest and apprehended by police. He is being charged with robbery, and his suspected accomplice may face charges as well. The armed citizen who defended herself was described as possessing a valid concealed-carry permit.
