NPR: HuffPo’s Weisser Describes His Gun-Controlled Fantasy World

In an interview with NPR, HuffPo’s resident anti-gun writer Mike Weisser described his fantasy world of gun regulation and registration.

“What I would like to see is that there’d be a measurement of how lethal a particular weapon is. And the more lethal it is, the more it has to be regulated …” he said.

Weisser then sketched his national gun registration plan: “Because if we don’t have a really good system—and it’s not hard to do it—to keep track of guns in people’s houses so that this theft starts to drop … if you’ve got a couple hundred thousand guns going out into the population that are there to be used as crime guns, then you’re going to have an awful lot of gun violence.”

There is no “lethality” scale for guns. Nor is there an easy path to register the hundreds of millions of firearms owned by law-abiding citizens, let alone criminals. But these teensy details don’t matter in Weisser’s World, the imagined anti-Second Amendment utopia of the supposed “gun nut” who once wrote, “wouldn’t it be easier to just collect all the guns?”
