While the police shootings in Dallas have increased calls for gun control from anti-gun groups and gun-ban politicians like President Barack Obama, over the weekend two Texas men thwarted a robbery attempt using a legally owned firearm.
San Antonio Police Sgt. Edward Rodriguez told MySA.com that the two roommates were in their apartment Sunday night when an armed man burst into the room demanding their belongings. One of the roommates tackled the suspect to the ground, and was shot during the ensuing struggle. The other roommate retrieved his own gun and shot at the suspect, who escaped out the back door and jumped the fence—dropping his gun in the process.
Rodriguez said that the suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene, while a man matching the robber’s identity was taken to a nearby hospital with several gunshot wounds. The injured roommate was also taken to the hospital with minor wounds. No charges were filed against the second roommate, who shot the suspect in self-defense.
"NOIR" Video Debunks Media’s False Claims Of NRA Racism
NRA News Commentator Colion Noir has released a new video commentary, “Media Fans Flames of Racism,” in which he responds to the deceitful media’s unjust claims that the NRA does not care about the black community: “If any organization acts in a racist manner toward my gun rights, it’s you, the national news media.”
In standing up to those who used last week’s tragedies to promote their anti-Second Amendment agenda by trying to paint the NRA and its members as racists, Noir asserts, “You people [the media] fan the flames of racism to sell the tension to your sponsors and then you can’t figure out why black people all over America are legally arming up.” He goes on to cite the NRA’s long history of defending the rights of African-Americans including Shaneen Allen, Josephine Byrd and Otis McDonald, stories the media has largely ignored.
Noir adds, “The Democratic Party invented gun control after slavery to keep guns out of the hands of black people, and they haven’t stopped since. But you don’t tell that story, either.”
An extensive study just released by Harvard University researchers found no evidence of racial bias in police shootings nationwide.
Speaking to The New York Times, professor and author Roland G. Fryer Jr. said, “It is the most surprising result of my career.” Fryer’s team spent 3,000 hours examining 1,000 shootings in 10 major police departments in Texas, Florida and California.
Although the study did find bias in the use of non-lethal force, it found officers were more likely to fire without having first been attacked when suspects were white. Houston police were roughly 20 percent less likely to shoot black suspects than white ones.
Controlling for different factors and using varying definitions, Fryer consistently found that blacks were either less likely to be shot, or there was no difference between blacks and whites. Fryer has shown courage in tackling controversial subjects in the past, and is the youngest African-American to receive tenure at Harvard.
Media Tries To Demonize Defensive Firearm Training
You can’t make this (stupid) stuff up, folks: Two Associated Press reporters are now trying to link defensive skills training to the murder of those five Dallas police officers. Because an unhinged butcher was exposed to “shooting on the move,” (which, amusingly, they define incorrectly) at a “private self-defense school,” they’re suggesting that such training is a problem. Apparently, regular folks are only entitled to ineffective defenses because that’s the only kind murderous creeps can’t in turn abuse.
What is it they don’t understand about the meaning of the word “defensive?” That’s simple, really, but nonetheless lethal to any liberty, and not just the Second Amendment: They know the word just fine, but because they can’t win on facts or logic, they’ll resort to any perversion of language to turn everything firearm-related into the specter—or actual manifestation—of aggressive, immoral violence.
Such outrageous manipulation is one of their best weapons (remember that Orwell guy?), but no match for knowledge and a wisely cast vote.
Justice Ginsburg Wants Supreme Court To Overrule 1A And 2A Protections
In a politically charged, election-year interview with The New York Times, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg went out of her way to attack Donald Trump and his presidential campaign, and to express her hope that two critical Supreme Court cases—protecting our First and Second Amendment rights—be overturned by the Court.
Commenting on the Supreme Court’s 2008 landmark ruling that ended the D.C. gun ban by confirming that residents have an individual right to keep and bear arms to protect themselves in their homes, Ginsburg said, “I thought Heller was a very bad decision.”
Ginsburg, 83, who has been on the Court for 23 years, also said, “I’d love to see Citizens United overruled.” This is the ruling that protects the ability of groups of like-minded people—like NRA members—to pool their money to pay for political communications. In other words, they want to silence us so they can disarm us.
Dem "House Sitter" Indicted For Fraud Over Charity "Slush Fund"
Rep. Corrine Brown, a participant in the Democratic gun-control sit-in gimmick, has a far bigger issue than guns on her hands—notably, a 24-count federal indictment.
"Congresswoman Brown and her chief of staff [Elias ‘Ronnie’ Simmons] are alleged to have used the congresswoman's official position to solicit over $800,000 in donations to a supposed charitable organization, only to use that organization as a personal slush fund," Assistant U.S. Attorney General Leslie Caldwell, chief of the Justice Department's criminal division, said in a statement.
Of the money raised for the One Door for Education scholarship fund, only $1,200 went to students. The rest went toward luxury boxes at concerts and NFL games, lavish receptions and events held in Brown’s honor
Brown pleaded not guilty to the charges Friday. If convicted, she could face up to 357 years in prison and a fine of up to $4 million.
