Petition Approved To Roll Back California Gun Laws

While chances of success are slim, California gun owners might have a means to roll back several punitively restrictive gun-control laws recently signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. To do so, however, 365,000 signatures are needed on each of six separate petitions by Sept. 29 in order to make the November 2018 ballot.

Some of the laws targeted include:

-A.B.1135/S.B.880, which reclassifies hundreds of thousands of legally owned semi-automatic rifles as “assault weapons”;
-A.B.1511, which effectively ends the practice of temporarily loaning a firearm to anyone other than a family member without going through a dealer;
-S.B.1235, which mandates registration of ammunition purchases; and
-S.B.1446, which bans the possession of ammunition feeding devices/magazines that are capable of holding more than 10 cartridges.
